Keto Sugar Fee Caramel Sauce

Ingredients for Caramel sauce:

  • 3/4 cup butter 
  • 3/4  sweetener ( I used xilytol
  • half tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla aroma
  • 1 tsp sugar free maple syrup
  • 1 and a half cup cream
  • 1 egg

Preparation

Takes around 30 minutes to make this so it’s best to start with this first.

 Put the butter and the sweetener in a big pan  and start to heat it up, when it starts to boil cook slowly. 

Keep stirring and after 10-15 minutes it will go brown and will thicken.  

Then add the salt and cream. 

Be careful when you add the cream because it will bubble and you have to stir it. It will go brown again after adding the cream. Cook for another 10minutes. 

Make sure it’s not dark brown just light brown like caramel. 

When it’s ready stop cooking and add the vanilla aroma and maple syrup. Leave it to cool for 15-20 minutes then add the egg.

You will also need 2 cups of pecan and half cup whole pecan for decoration. 

Cut the 2 cups pecan to small pieces and put it on the pastry and add to the caramel sauce. Decorate the top with the whole pecans. 

Cook for another 40-50 minutes on 175 degrees celcius. 

On the outside of the cake pan cover it with aluminium foil so the pastry doesn’t burn on the side. 

I cooked for 40 minutes and left it in the oven for 10 more minutes. When the top of the pie is dark brown it is ready. 

I left it to cool for three hours before taking it out of the cake pan.
